Pregnancy Week 26: Baby BOY #3

Another week has flown by! I'm excited that the Baby's chance of survival jumped to 80%-90% this week! That's huge. Here's what else has been happening around here:

Baby belly while typingHow Far Along: 26 weeks 6 days Braxton Hicks Contractions: Only a normal amount. Not even one per day. Thank you God! Food Cravings: Oatmeal Creme Pies. Both Nick and I wanted these this week. We were made for each other! (Nick and I, not the cookies and myself!) [Hijacked by Dad] - "She says that now. But you should have seen her eyes light up when I suggested what she was already thinking, while passing them in the store. Yes, they were made for each other." ;-)

Midwife/Doctor Appointment: Nothing this week. Not So Fun Pregnancy Stuff: Heartburn is getting more frequent. I don't get it bad though, so I'm not complaining.

Pregnancy Moment of the Week: I had my first stranger-touching-my-baby-belly moment! I'd never had a stranger touch my belly with either of my previous pregnancies, so this was something totally new to experience. The girl that did it, had her hands on my belly as soon as I announced we were expecting a baby, so I had no time to react. I think my face got a little red, just because it was a little weird. I wasn't offended, but it would have been nice to get a little warning or if she had asked for permission to touch my baby bump. I like sharing this baby. It struck me a little funny that people do this. I mean, the baby only moves a few times a day, so are they expecting to get to feel a baby kick? Or are they just trying to connect with the life growing inside? Who knows. [Hijacked by Dad] - "Okay, So why is it okay to do this to strangers when they are pregnant? How many times have you ever seen or had someone walk up and start rubbing their hand all over the belly of a woman who is not pregnant? Okay, baring a strip joint or something perverse like that. Seriously people? I would get locked up if I did that. Its just strange, flat out. At least ask. ;-)" Healthy pregnancy snack

What I Did to Prepare For Baby's Arrival: Nothing this week. I only have a few things to do to get ready. Pull out clean baby boy clothes, get the rest of the birth supplies together and into the big box in our room, set up the bassinet, and set up the temporary shelves for the baby's clothes/blankets. I have weeks to go, right?

Total Weight Gain So Far: 17 pounds. Hello 140's! I haven't seen you in a while! I gained 2 pounds this week. I think that can be explained by the fact that I just didn't feel like eating healthy balanced meals, so I didn't. I go through spurts where I eat really good for  weeks or months, and then I have a few days or weeks where I eat more carbs and less protein and fresh foods. That was my week, lots of carbs and not a whole lot of protein. It was making me feel pretty lousy, so today I decided that it was time to get back on the bandwagon and try to do better. I made a Boca burger ["piece of card board" - Dad] (it has a whopping 19 grams of protein per burger) on a wheat bagel thin, with cheese, and then had some carrots and natural peanut butter, drizzled with a little raw honey, as a side. It was so much more satisfying than what I'd been eating for the past week!

Comfortable Hollister shirt Regular or Pregnancy Clothes: Both. I finally had to give up on my previous pairs of pants and skirts, and now am only wearing maternity jeans, and skirts made from stretchy material. But shirts are some of both. It struck me last week, that I haven't had a late season pregnancy before, so I have next to nothing for long sleeved shirts to wear in the next few weeks/months that will accommodate my growing body. I remedied that by buying 3 shirts from our local thrift store at 50% off. Three shirts for $6? Yes please!

Baby Movement: The little man has started having the hiccups this week! I feel little movements that are consistently a few seconds apart. I hate getting the hiccups, so I can only imagine what our little boy is experiencing for the first time.

Size of Baby #3: A scallion. Or around 1 2/3 pounds and about 14" from head to heel. [Hijacked by Dad] - "So now we have had the entire cast of VeggieTales in your tummy right?"

Pregnancy Thoughts This Week: Window sills. That is a totally random, unrelated to pregnancy thought, but for some reason as each pregnancy gets towards the end, I notice the window sills in the house need to be wiped clean. I've been noticing them for 3 weeks now, so I need to find a moment to get them spruced up and get it off my mind.

Share with me your best ideas for getting a proper amount of protein in your diet! I need 80-100 grams a day for this pregnancy, and I'm not getting anywhere near that. Got any ideas?
